CBS joins forces with JWD to run ‘Deliver Kindness’ project
JWD Infologistics Public Company Limited has joined forces with Chulalongkorn Business School (CBS) to run ‘Deliver Kindness’, a sustainable philanthropic project to aid in combating COVID-19 by supplying medical equipment and essential staples free of charge to affected areas in need.
Initiated in response to the second wave of the pandemic, the first phase of the project involved the creation of a digital logistics platform for the handling of donations pouring in from across the country.
With its vast networks, CBS is taking the lead in garnering donations, such as (1) medical supplies, including hand sanitizers, surgical masks, N95 respirators, face shields, rubber gloves, hair nets, and personal protective equipment (PPE), and (2) essential staples including non-perishable food, but excluding cash and fresh food, while JWD is playing a key role in bridging the gap between donations and recipients by drawing on its logistics expertise.
The donations have been dispatched to hospitals and agencies in the affected areas, the first being those in Samut Sakhon province in central Thailand. Plans to send relief to other destinations are also underway.
In regard to the project, Mr. Jitchai Nimitpanya, Deputy CEO of JWD and a renowned expert in logistics and supply chain within the ASEAN region, noted that the second wave of COVID-19 breaking out in December last year has caused a surge in new cases, a shortage of medical supplies in hospitals in the hardest hit provinces, and a pressing need for essential staples and non-perishable food.
Assoc. Prof. Wilert Puriwat, D.Phil., Dean of CBS, added that he shared the pain experienced by residents in Samut Sakhon, and is thereby collaborating with JWD to carry out the ‘Deliver Kindness’ project in order to help restore hope in and revive the fortunes of the province after it was identified as the origin of the second pandemic outbreak.
From the determination of these two executives to lend a helping hand to COVID-19 victims has arisen this philanthropic project.
As part of the project’s operation, CBS has designated its 50th Anniversary Building as a center for accepting donations, including medical supplies, essential staples, and non-perishable food, to be forwarded on by JWD to recipients.
